There are numerous diseases out there that can be treated, and possibly even cured, through diet — basically, the foods we choose to eat can make or break us.

While there are not enough studies and clinical trials to state that it’s a cure, coconut oil and medium chain triglyceride oil (“MCT” oil) are showing positive results in supplementing the treatment of Alzheimers disease.

Those who have tried supplementing their diets and medical regimes with these oils have seen improvements ranging from a halt in further cognitive decline, to regaining significant cognitive losses that  include

  • liberation from depression (which is a state associated with faster progression of brain damage)
  • regaining the ability to read, along with reading comprehension
  • regaining the ability to perform basic math calculations
  • minimization of physical tremors
  • improvements in energy
  • improvements in balance
  • ability to focus
  • ability to maintain a conversation, responding appropriately and in context
  • return of personality
  • return of sense of humor
  • increased eye contact with a decrease of staring into the abyss

Results vary from person to person; but the common thread seems to be that, when an otherwise healthy person’s medical regime was supplemented with one or both of these oils, there was a noticeably positive impact made to the terrorizing, cascading cognitive decline of Alzheimers.

I am not a doctor, so be sure to check with your physician(s) before trying them out for yourself.

Here are some wonderful videos by Dr. Mary Newport.  She is an MD who supplements her husband’s diet, as well as her own, with coconut and MCT oil, and they have made wondrous strides in regaining some of her husband’s lost cognitive function due to Alzheimers disease.  As a matter of fact, her body of work inspired me to improve my Dad’s state with coconut oil — I hope she can inspire you.

The following video does a great job of explaining a couple of ways you can try incorporating coconut oil into your or your loved one’s diet.  The video author is not a medical professional either, so please consult with your medical professional before making changes to your nutrition plan.

All the best!

    • Agreed. It’s never too early to start pampering all of our organs with these beneficial fats. The great news is that the brain is just one of several organs that convert ketones into energy. It’s a parafigm shift when you understand what’s going on at the cellular level… The mystery becomes decoded, and it becomes something we can wrap our heads around. It’s comforting to know that there are some simple things we can do to try to optimize the physical capabilities we have today.

Some friends and I have also incorporated organic unrefined coconut oil into our daily regime by taking a teaspoonful, cooking with it or applying it to the skin instead of lotion. We enjoy the energy boost, as well as the mental clarity benefits — and the skin’s external benefits are fabulous. Coconut oil is a win-win… Especially if you’re good with coconuts.
